Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Wallz.Space
What is Wallz.Space?
Wallz.Space is an open-source social platform built on Supabase. We got tired of watching our favorite social networks and tools get worse over time, so we built something different.
The main difference? You're in control. You decide where your content goes, how it's organized, and who sees it. No algorithms deciding what you should see. No companies mining your data. No suggested friends you don't actually know.
This makes Wallz.Space great for things you can't really do elsewhere—like making a proper top 10 list of your favorite movies, or organizing your thoughts and interests exactly how you want them. It's your space to use however you want.
Whether you're sharing thoughts, building communities, or checking out news with our integrated analysis tools, you get to decide how it all works.
What are the "Tone Scale" and "Goldstein Scale" in news articles?
TTone Scale
The Tone Scale measures how positive or negative news coverage is for any event. It analyzes all articles about an event in the first 15 minutes after it breaks.
Score Range:
-100 (very negative) to +100 (very positive)
Most stories fall between -10 and +10
Perfect for quickly understanding if coverage is upbeat, doom-and-gloom, or neutral. You can track how the mood around a story shifts over time.
GGoldstein Scale
The Goldstein Scale measures international cooperation vs. conflict. Created by researcher Joshua Goldstein to categorize world events.
Score Range:
-10 (major conflict) to +10 (high cooperation)
Key Point:
It's based on the type of event, not size. A 10-person protest gets the same score as a 10,000-person protest—what matters is that it's a "protest."
Examples:
This shows whether world events are making international relations more tense or cooperative, based on the nature of actions rather than their scale.
How to use these scales on Wallz.Space
How do I "like" something?
You don't! We skipped the whole "like" thing on purpose.
Instead, if someone says something that really hits home—something actually worth sharing—you can "Shout it out." That's how we do social support here.
When you shout something, you're basically saying "more people should see this" and helping spread good ideas. It's more meaningful than just hitting a heart button.
Look for the shout button on posts that actually matter to you.
How do I "dislike" something?
You don't do that either! Sometimes it's better to just ignore stuff you don't like.
Instead of downvotes and dislikes that just make everything more negative, we figure you can just scroll past things that aren't for you. Spend your energy shouting out the good stuff instead.
But, if someone is actually being awful—hate speech, spreading lies on purpose, harassment—we've got you covered.
